Battle for Hastings
Terms & Conditions
Effective from 1 April 2026
These terms govern participation in Battle for Hastings, an event organised by Stash Racing Inc. ("we", "us", "the organiser"). By submitting an application or participating in the event, you agree to these terms on behalf of yourself and your team.
1. The event
Battle for Hastings is an ultra relay running event taking place on Saturday 8 August 2026. Teams of four runners complete a self-navigated route from Hackney, London, to Hastings, East Sussex — approximately 70 miles. The event is invitational. Submission of an application does not guarantee a place.
2. Entry and eligibility
- Participants must be 18 years of age or older on race day.
- Teams must consist of exactly four runners.
- Entry fees (£30 per runner / £120 per team) are due only upon acceptance of an application. Fees must be paid in full by the date specified in the acceptance email.
- Entry fees are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled by the organiser.
- Team member changes are permitted up to seven days before the event with written notice to the organiser.
3. Health and fitness
Participants are responsible for ensuring they are medically fit to take part. By entering, each participant confirms that they have no medical condition that would make it unsafe to participate in a strenuous endurance event covering 20+ miles of running in a single day. We strongly recommend consulting a doctor if you have any doubt.
4. Rules of participation
- At least one team member must be running at all times between the start and finish.
- All teams must pass through the mandatory checkpoint at Tunbridge Wells.
- All four team members must cross the finish line together.
- Navigation is the responsibility of each team. A recommended GPX route will be provided, but teams may use any legal route between start and finish.
- Teams are responsible for their own transport, food, water, and safety equipment on the day.
- Any team found to have cheated, shortcut the route, or otherwise violated the spirit of the event may be disqualified at the organiser's discretion.
5. Safety and liability
Battle for Hastings takes place largely on public roads and footpaths. Participants must at all times comply with road traffic law, respect other trail users, and take reasonable steps to ensure their own safety and that of their teammates.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the organiser accepts no liability for personal injury, illness, death, loss, or damage to property arising from participation in the event, except where caused by the organiser's own negligence.
Each participant participates entirely at their own risk.
6. Cancellation and changes
The organiser reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or significantly alter the event due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control (including but not limited to severe weather, public safety requirements, or force majeure). In the event of cancellation by the organiser, entry fees will be refunded in full. No other costs (travel, accommodation, equipment, etc.) will be reimbursed.
7. Photography and media
By entering the event, participants consent to being photographed and filmed during the event. Images and footage may be used by the organiser for promotional and editorial purposes without additional consent or payment. If you have concerns about specific use of your image, contact us at the address below.
8. Code of conduct
We expect all participants to treat fellow runners, volunteers, and members of the public with respect. Any participant found to be behaving in an abusive, dangerous, or otherwise unacceptable manner may be removed from the event without refund.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
